From legendary writer-director Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream) comes one of the most unnerving and shocking horror films of all-time, when his debut feature film The Last House on the Left arrives in a DVD Collector’s Edition February 24th from MGM Home Entertainment. A collaboration with producer Sean S. Cunningham (Friday the 13th), Craven’s 1972 classic is credited with introducing a sense of realistic and primal violence to the horror genre along with three of the most sadistic and terrifying killers to ever cross the big screen. “A neglected American horror exploitation masterpiece on a par with Night of the Living Dead” (Roger Ebert), The Last House on the Left Collector’s Edition is packed with all-new bonus features including commentary by actors David Hess, Marc Sheffler and Fred Lincoln and over 80 minutes of featurettes including all-new interviews with Wes Craven, a deleted scene featuring Mari dying at the lake, never-before-seen outtakes and Craven’s annotated shooting scripts, among others.

Spike TV will present film legends Tim Burton and Wes Craven with discretionary awards for their groundbreaking achievements in the horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic book genres during the third annual Scream 2008 celebration. Featuring appearances and performances by such greats as Seth Rogen, Kevin Smith, Liv Tyler, Samuel L. Jackson, The Osbournes, Kristen Bell, Julie Benz, Darren Lynn Bousman, Thomas Dekker, Guillermo Del Toro, Stan Lee, and many more, the celebration has gathered the industry’s most talented visionists to honor these two filmmakers, who have molded the genre with their innovative style and foresight.
Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sweeney Todd), who has contributed more to the genres of fantasy, sci-fi and horror than any other filmmaker of his generation, will be honored with the 2008 Scream Immortal Award.
Wes Craven, the genius behind The Hills Have Eyes, Swamp Thing, the Scream franchise, and The Nightmare on Elm Street, will be presented with this year’s Scream Mastermind Award, which celebrates a filmmaker’s unique vision that has been deemed critically acclaimed and culturally significant.
Burton and Craven will join such elites as Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne the Rock Immortal Award winners, writer Neil Gaiman, filmmaking duo Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez who received the 2006 Mastermind Award.

Wes Craven likes to stay busy as seen by his current slate of projects. He told ShockTillYouDrop.com that after the remake of Last House on the Left and 25/8, he and Rogue Pictures are likely to tackle a remake of his 1991 film The People Under the Stairs.
“It will be a remake, not directed by me, but something Marianne Maddalena will produce after she completes The Last House on the Left,” he told the site. Both films in the works will be out in 2009. (more…)

Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) is about to sign to headline yet another remake, this time . The original was released in 1989 and was a fantasy musical so seems a perfect vehicle for the young actress. United Artists will make the film with no other personnel signed to date.
Wes Craven’s 25/8 has changed leads with Max Thierot (Jumper) replacing Henry Lee Hopper. The Rogue Pictures release also features Nick Lashaway (Bag Boy), John Magaro (The Brave One), Paulina Olszynski (Lincoln Heights), Raul Esparza (Rocky Horror Picture Show), Denzel Whitaker (The Great Debaters), Shareeka Epps (Half a Life), and Emily Meade (The House is Burning). Production begins this month in Connecticut.

Henry Lee Hopper, Denzel Whittaker (The Great Debaters), Shareeka Epps (Half Nelson) and Emily Meade (The House is Burning) have all been cast in Wes Craven’s latest, tentatively titled 25/8. The film, shooting shortly, follows seven teenagers plaued by a serial kiler thoguht dead the last fifteen years. Hopper, son of Dennis Hopper, will be making his acting debut as the lead.
