In an interview with LA Times, popstar Beyonce Knowles revealed she met with Warner Bros. and DC Comics reps to express her interest in playing their superhero princess, Wonder Woman. My fingers quiver at the possibility of this becoming true. I am a huge fan of Beyonce and her music, however the interview speaks for itself. She does not fit the role, only the costume. Read on for excerpts from her interview.
The recent success of sophisticated comic-book adaptations is the main reason for Beyoncé’s interest, she said, but her focus on Wonder Woman was intensified earlier this year when she saw Lynda Carter’s costume from the 1970s television show on display at the Costume Institute’s “Superhero” show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Wonder Woman costume is an “unforgiving one” she tells LA Times. “I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it’d be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.” (more…)

Early in October, Lethal Weapon 5 was rumored to be ready to begin production. IGN reported that Warner Bros. had plans to put the movie on the fast track as soon as Mel Gibson gave the go-ahead. Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), who wrote Lethal Weapon 1-3 and the characters for ‘4′, wrote the screenplay for ‘5′ and was hoping to direct.
This week however, The Los Angeles Times caught up with director Richard Donner, the man who directed and produced the Lethal Weapon series, only to discover that Mel Gibson has turned down the project. This didn’t come as a surprise to Donner when he found himself excluded from any Lethal sequel discussions. The director tells The Los Angeles Times, “Mel turned it down. I would like to think that Mel turned it down because I wasn’t involved. Knowing Mel, I would like to think that. Would that be the kind of thing he does? It sure would be.”
LA Times queried Gibson’s camp on the matter and concluded, “While [Gibson’s camp was] reluctant to make any official comment, I left the conversation with no doubt in my mind that Donner’s account is accurate.”
Donner went on, “It’s too bad, actually, because Channing Gibson, who wrote the fourth one, and Mike Riva, a designer on three of them, and myself and Derek [Hofman, an associate at The Donner Company] had an incredibly strong story for the fifth movie. But we weren’t given the opportunity and I think maybe I could have convinced Mel to do it. But Warners chose to go with Joel Silver.”

Not exactly a monster or horror film, but depending on how you view the subject matter, this potential Oscar contender is worthy of mention. While doing a press for The Changeling, Clint Eastwood spoke briefly about his upcoming film, Gran Torino, a potentially very controversial piece that addresses, directly, the issues of racism and political correctness. Eastwood will direct and also star in Gran Torino, as Walt Kowalski, a racist Korean War veteran who finds himself reluctantly bonding with his neighbor, an Asian immigrant, over his classic 1972 Gran Torino.
At 78 years old, Clint Eastwood calls it like it is. This is a man I would love to sit down with for a cup of tea and listen to him talk endlessly. His films deviate from the norm, always addressing themes others are too afraid to discuss. Gran Torino will be Eastwood’s first return in front of the camera since Million Dollar Baby, which took home the Oscar for Best-Picture.
Eastwood describes his character is “unflattering and potentially controversial,” telling USA Today, “I’m a weirdo in it. I play a real racist. … It’s a great time in life (to do that) because, you know, what can they do to you once you’re past 70? There’s nothing they can do. But it also has redemption. This Hmong family moves in next door, and he has been in the Korean War, in the infantry, and looks down on Asian people and lumps everybody together. But finally they befriend him in his time of need because he has no relationship with his family.”
Warner Bros. plans to release Eastwood’s Gran Torino December 2008.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jesse Eisenberg (Cursed, The Village, Adventureland) is rumored to be joining Woody Harrelson in Columbia Pictures’ Zombieland, a horror comedy to be directed by newcomer Ruben Fleischer. The screenplay, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (The Joe Schmo Show) is “about a mismatched pair of survivors who find friendship and redemption in a world overrun by zombies.” Eisenberg will play Flagstaff, “a terrified shut-in whose cowardice makes him an expert at surviving the zombies but who is forced out of his shell to join the band of survivors.” Produced by Gavin Polone of Pariah Films, we’re looking at a 2012 release.
Bloody-Disgusting reported that The Factory has assembled its full cast. John Cusack (1408), Sonya Walger (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Mae Whitman (Boogeyman 2), Katherine Waterston, Mageina Tovah, Cindy Sampson, Conrad Pla, Michael Trevino, and Cas Anvar will star in the project, produced by Dark Castle and to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Morgan O’Neill (Project Greenlight) co-wrote and will direct the screenplay, a psychological thriller in which Cusack “will play an obsessed cop who, with his partner, is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, N.Y. When his teenage daughter disappears, the cop drops any professional restraint and goes all out to get the killer.”
