Terror Tidbits

Variety reports that DreamWorks is in talks to have Clint Eastwood direct the supernatural thriller, titled Hereafter. The studio has been circling Eastwood for months to helm the project, which they acquired in March earlier this year from screenwriter Peter Morgan (The Queen) in a multi-million dollar deal. No plot details as of yet, only that the plot will play in the vein of The Sixth Sense.

Another report from Variety. Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) may be directing DreamWorks’ thriller Motorcade. The screenplay, written by Billy Ray, is about “terrorists attacking the president’s motorcade as it traverses through Los Angeles.” Walter Parkers and Laurie MacDonald will produce.
Sony Screen Gems has already slated Jill Culton’s Hotel Transylvania for release on September 30, 2011 reveals Bloody-Disgusting. The film will be an animated horror, directed by Culton from a screenplay by Kevin and Daniel Hageman. Sony  just announced also that the project is may possibly be looking in the 3-D direction. “In the story, a sort of Romeo and Juliet with monsters, Simon Van Helsing—the youngest in a long line of monsters hunters—falls in love with Dracula’s daughter. Upon the discovery that they are enemies, the couple attempts to bring peace between the monsters and humans.”

From THR, James Cox (Wonderland) will helm Dark Castle’s psychological horror, titled The Summoner, from a screenplay by Matthew Sand. “The story centers on a young man experimenting with the dark arts who summons a supernatural being to our world. When his control begins to slip and the situation turns deadly, he must stop the onslaught of evil before it’s too late.” Joel Silver and David Gambino will produce and Warner Bros. Pictures’ has acquired worldwide distribution rights. Casting is currently underway. Lensing begins in January 2009 in Portland, Oregon.
