The story is set in contemporary Salem, where the modern day townspeople are menaced by a coven of 300-year-old witches. But as Zombie shared with Empire last February, the film will spin off the true events of the Salem witch hunts and he discusses how it will move to be set in the present day. “There were twenty people that everyone knows about – obviously all innocent – executed as witches in Salem. The basic premise of the film is that there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem’s descendants. That’s when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong…” he said.

Luckily for you, Mezco did!

Freddy Krueger

Krueger, I hardly know her!

Yes, I know. I’m hilarious. Let’s move on.

Easily my favorite of the bunch, Mezco has outdone themselves with this 9 inch A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET collectible. The details are fantastic, from the horribly burned skin to Freddy’s signature clawed glove. The collectible comes with a removable hat, real cloth sweater, the iconic Elm Street sign, and the infamous telephone with tongue (which is hands down the coolest thing ever!).

But the Freddy love doesn’t end there. Head over to the Mezco site to check out the Deluxe 1/6 Scale 12″ model, the 3.75 Inch Figure (wich includes removable hat and garbage can lid and display stand), and the Series 3 & Series 4 models which have Freddy dressed in a surgeon outfit and a chef outfit!

Michael Myers

Not all disturbed murderers have the luxury of being able to haunt our dreams, though. Some have to do it the old fashioned way… with a really big knife.

Based on Rob Zombie’s take of the infamous masked maniac, Michael Myers, from HALLOWEEN II, this bad boy comes equipped with ten points of articulation, a massive bloody knife, and a Doc Brown style haircut. For ages 18 and up, the Haddonfield Terror is dressed in his film-specific jumpsuit, but the Mezco site also has a 12″ Scale version dressed in a real cloth jacket, a 14″ Roto Plush version, and a 7″ articulated figurine.

Leatherface

Mezco’s latest creation, and the last of the larger models we will be covering, is Leatherface – the bad@$$ with a gnarly chainsaw and, you guessed it, a leather face. This 1:6 Scale Deluxe Figure from A TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE comes with his signature chainsaw and mallet, blood spattered cowboy boots, and a real cloth jacket.

I am going to go ahead and recommend this model for collectors of the male persuasion – this is not due to any sort of sexist agenda, but simply because, when given a chance to play with Leatherface, some of the ladies in the office were only amused by it for about 3 minutes until their conversation turned to ponies and the such (for reals). They did however discover the noteworthy fact that, while the chainsaw is removable and fits rather nicely on your finger, Leatherface’s head does not, I repeat, does not come off.

This special edition comes packaged in a window box to display Leatherface in all his gruesome glory. but is limited to 300 pieces worldwide! So hurry over to Mezco to get yours.

Tiny Terrors

Is bigger always better? Feel free to have a deep debate about that in the comments section, but for now I will move on to… Tiny Terrors!

While all of these products have a Choking Hazard warning on them, this is where I actually feel compelled to mention it, as these “adorable” versions of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET’s Freddy Krueger and FRIDAY THE 13TH’s Jason Voorhees measure in at only 2 inches tall (bite-sized).

Horror icons that fit in your pocket! Mezco’s new Tiny Terrors will send fun-filled chills down your spine! These chunky 2inch tall mini versions of Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface are ready to jump out of the shadows and into your toy chest. Figures feature articulated parts and are packaged individually.

“I want to play a game…”

You’ve seen the SAW movies. You still hear the screams of Jigsaw’s victims. You mourn the franchise, knowing that you will never again have a Halloween with a SAW. But did you know you could get your very own Vinyl Figurine of the Saw Puppet (you know, that spine-chilling messenger of the Jigsaw Killer).

A contemporary horror icon, Mezco’s latest vinyl figure stands between 6 and 8 inches tall (it depends how you do up his hair) and is perfect for both collectors and any average Joe who wants to scare his friends (Saw Puppet Vinyl Figure + tape recorder with pre-recorded rules to a game of life and death = excellent prank).

To commemorate the move, Rob Zombie  took to his update-filled Facebook page once again to give us a peek at a filming location and a little behind-the scenes love between he and star Bruce Davison.  It’s unclear whether the photos were taken in Salem or Los Angeles, but I’m going to go with Salem since Zombie prefaces the Davison pic with “On the streets of SALEM with Bruce Davison. Man, it was starting to get cold.”  As someone who was in Los Angeles yesterday, I can very much say that it was not cold out, at least in the part of the city I was in.

The shot of the house gets the ominous tagline, “This is the house where it all begins in THE LORDS OF SALEM.”
