The documentary premieres at Slamdance Film Festival on January 24th in Park City, Utah. The features includes celebrity appearances by: Samuel L. Jackson, Nicolas Cage, Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Stewart, Jon Favreau, Frank Miller, Jim Lee, Avi Arad, Kevin Smith and Paris Hilton. But you can see the TRAILER now over at Entertainment Weekly.

Those of you lucky enough to go to Sundance should definitely check this one out, the rest of us will have to wait for it to show up on Blu-ray and DVD.

“She was a little bit like Angelina Jolie [laughs],” quoth Whedon. “She sort of traveled the world. She was very powerful and very naïve about people.”

Back in the 2000s, Whedon was hired by Warner Bros and producer Joel Silver to draft the first WONDER WOMAN movie. Needless to say it didn’t work out. Silver even hired a second screenwriter to write a competing version, as he didn’t care for Whedon’s approach to the material.

“She would look at us and the way we kill each other and the way we let people starve and the way the world is run and she’d just be like, None of this makes sense to me. I can’t cope with it, I can’t understand, people are insane. And ultimately her romance with Steve was about him getting her to see what it’s like not to be a goddess, what it’s like when you are weak, when you do have all these forces controlling you and there’s nothing you can do about it. That was the sort of central concept of the thing. Him teaching her humanity and her saying, OK, great, but we can still do better.”

WONDER WOMAN never made it to the big or small screen, but Whedon jumped ship to Marvel as is now directing THE AVENGERS, set for release May 4, 2012.

Received an email this morning. Iron Man 3 will use about 1,000 extras during the film and there will be over 550 crew jobs and will be shooting from May 2012 until January 2013 with a Memorial Day weekend release in 2013.

IRON MAN 3 starts shooting May of 2012 and will be released in theatres a year later in May of 2013.

Hugh Jackman talks to MTV News about going darker with the franchise, suggesting that if any superhero film were to be R-Rated, it would be Wolverine. But pushing the R-Rating would lose out on the younger fans who look up to the character. Jackman and Mangold haven’t pushed the idea off the table, though, and have even considered doing two different cuts of the film: -Snikt!, Snikt!-, as it were.

There isn’t a start date yet for production on THE WOLVERINE, but Jackman assures that it’s his next project following LES MISÉRABLES. How do you feel about a possible R-Rated Wolverine?

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios – continuing their streak of offering their superhero tentpoles to helmers not known for their special effects-filled, action blockbuster experience – is close to choosing Patty Jenkins to direct THOR 2.

Jenkins directed the 2003 Charlize Theron flick, MONSTER, and more recently she got an emmy nom for the two-hour pilot of AMC’s THE KILLING. She was vying for the position along with several other directors, but it appears that she has won out and will join the project as Marvel’s first woman director.

The first THOR movie was directed by Kenneth Branagh and has grossed over $448 million worldwide. Branagh chose not to return this time around due to creative differences and a difficult post-production process.

THOR 2, written by Don Payne, is already scheduled for release on July 26th, 2013 and Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Anthony Hopkins will be reprising their respective roles this time around.

Thor will also appear in THE AVENGERS next summer. Can’t wait for that one.

Box Office recently spoke with director Joe Johnston (whose The Wolfman opens February 12) about his upcoming projects, namely Marvel Studios’ upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America, set for release July 22, 2011.

“It’s not going to be a Captain America that you expect. It’s something different. It is influenced by the comic book, but it goes off in a completely different direction. It’s the origin story of Captain America. It’s mostly period—there are modern, present-day bookends on it—but it’s basically the story of how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America. The great thing about Captain America is he’s a super hero without any super powers. Which is why this story, among the hundreds of super hero stories, appealed to me the most. He can’t fly, he can’t see through walls, he can’t do any of that stuff. He’s an every man who’s been given this amazing gift of transformation into the perfect specimen—the pinnacle of human perfection. How does that affect him? What does that mean for him emotionally and psychologically? He was this 98-pound weakling, he was this wimp, and he’s transformed instantly into this Adonis. You’d think he got everything he wanted. Well, he didn’t get everything he wanted. The rules change at that point and his life gets even more complicated and dire. For me, that’s the interesting part of the story. It’s got some great action sequences in it and some incredible stuff that we’ve never seen before. But at the heart of it, it’s a story about this kid who all he wants to do is fit in. This thing happens and he still doesn’t fit in. And he has to prove himself a hero—essentially go AWOL to save a friend. Eventually at the very end, I don’t want to give away to much, but he does fit in. But it’s the journey of getting him there that’s interesting. And it’s a lot of fun.”

Of course, being that Johnston helmed the third Jurassic Park, conversation also covered rumors about Jurassic Park IV.

“Well, there is going to be a Jurassic Park IV. And it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve seen. It breaks away from the first three—it’s essentially the beginning of the second Jurassic Park trilogy. It’s going to be done in a completely different way. That’s pretty much all I can tell you… If you think of the first three as a trilogy, number four would be the beginning of a second trilogy.”
