That is exactly the reason why I do not waste my time and money in movies theaters. I will wait for the Blu-Ray and enjoy it in my home theater...

Awesome interview, I love Mary SanGiovanni's books, she is definitely one of the best new authors out there.

This is by far the best interview I've read from her so far. Awesome questions and awesome answers, looking forward to more from Mary and more interviews and reviews from Peter

Here's a bit of trivia for ya: this movie originally started out as an adaptation of the old Warren magazine strip "Rex Havoc and the Asskickers of the Fantastic"! But I guess DreamWorks didn't like the title...or the set-up...or even Rex Havoc, for that matter. Why they bothered to option it in the first place when the final product apparently has nothing to do with the source material is beyond me (stupid Hollywood!). That said, it looks like fun, so I might actually go see it!

Hey Dominic,

Have to agree with you on the Clash Of The Titans. This should not be remade. But since Hollywood is totally bereft of new and exciting ideas it does not come as a shock.

Let's hope they don't butcher it too bad...

I once got to meet Forry at the San Diego Con--in 2002 or 2001, I think it was. I know I made an ass of myself, babbling about how much of an influence he was to me and telling him about a comic character I published named Lorelei that was inspired by Vampirella, but I couldn't help myself. He took in all in stride and thanked me for my support; later he even gave me a pull quote or my comic! Truly a classy guy. I encourage everybody to pick up the latest issue of Rue Morgue magazine, with its Forry tribute and interview.

Well, Dominic, I don't know about giving Raimi too much credit, but he *had* said in a number of interviews I read (pre-Spidey 3) that he didn't want to use Venom for the reasons I stated. I look at it this way: without Arad's ham-handed technique, Spidey 1 was a great comic movie (even in spite of that god-awful Goblin costume) and Spidey 2 built upon the franchise. Spidey 3, if anything, was Raimi caving in to studio/Arad pressure (certainly not "Venom-fan" pressure) and winding up with a case of the ol' 10 pounds of crap in a 5-pound bag analogy. At this point, though, I wouldn't have minded a change of directors, if only to get a fresh outlook, but hopefully things will work out.

Sroman, I completely understand your stance on Mr. Arad, and I agree whole heartedly. However, I think you give Sam Raimi a bit too much credit. We'll see what happens, but either way my hopes aren't high. Thanks for the comment.

Y'know, although it's encouraging that Spidey 4 might have more depth, keep in mind that Avi Arad has had a VERY heavy hand in dictating how these movies turn out. HE was the one who burdened Raimi with Venom, after the director admitted from the start that he couldn't understand either the character or its fan appeal (and who could blame him?). Arad forced the issue because Spidey 3 was allegedly the final pic and he wanted to cram as many characters into the movie (no doubt for licensing purposes); he did the same thing with the multitude of characters in X-Men 3. So, when it comes to characterization and a smarter title than "Spider-Man 4," Raimi may push for a better film, but it will ultimately come down to how far they can keep Arad from the set.

The Fly is truely a classic. A perfect blend of love and tragedy. It fully deserves the accolade and celebration of this book. Well done to the people who wrote it for showing their passion and appreciation of this wonderful film. I thoroughly enjoyed the interviews.
