Less than a week after the GRIMM season finale, Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt, the creators of NBC’s Friday night hit, sat down and talked with EW.com to preview the sophomore season of the fantasy drama. I will avoid any spoilers because the finale is still fresh, so check out the interview here if you want some information about the woman in black, Hank’s journey in season 2, and vague plans of the future. Information on Captain Renard is a must next year, and hopefully they know it.

Following a couple uneven seasons, HBO has done some serious promotional work for TRUE BLOOD’s upcoming 5th season. From the apt slogan “waiting sucks” to a million promo character posters and cool trailers and now we have this cute new TV spot, courtesy of EW.com. Featuring practically every character on the show shedding some tears, the slogan is “Don’t cry. It’s back.” Of course, it’s not back YET, because we still have to wait until June 10th for the premiere (but we have two weeks of GAME OF THRONES to hold us over), but this fun and clever 30 second promo coupled with all of the other stuff we’ve seen lead me to believe we could be heading into the best TRUE BLOOD season since the first two. Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and company will be there at 9 PM on June 10th, and enjoy the promo embedded below.

To ramp up interest and hype for the second season premiere of TEEN WOLF, MTV has released the first ten minutes of the episode. The drama (loosely based on Michael J. Fox’s TEEN WOLF movie), starring Tyler Posey in the title role and Crystal Reed as love interest Allison, premieres Monday June 4th at 10 PM. The first season of TEEN WOLF was one of the first scripted dramas that actually worked out for MTV and the network is looking to build upon its momentum. While I lost interest midway through the first season, it wasn’t bad and was definitely enjoyable. Those aforementioned ten minutes are embedded below, courtesy of ComingSoon.net.

CW has started the hype train for ARROW, its upcoming fall drama based on DC Comics’ Green Arrow. Today, they’ve released the first trailer for the show, which will air Wednesday nights at 8 PM. ARROW is about the son of a billionaire who is found alive after five years on a deserted island. Before his brush with death he was a lot like the Green Hornet, brash and arrogant and a playboy that liked to spend money. Afterwards, he’s intent on avenging his father’s death and the men who have plagued Starling City. Ugh, why not just call it Star City like it should be?

The show stars Stephen Amell (HUNG) as Oliver Queen, our hero, and a slew of familiar faces. There’s Paul Blackthorne (THE RIVER) as Detective Quentin Lance, Brian Markinson (CAPRICA) as a/the villain Adam Hunt, and David Ramsey (TRUE BLOOD) as John Diggle, perhaps a reference to Andy Diggle, the artist who crafted the excellent GREEN ARROW: YEAR ONE. It’s also got Roger Cross (Curtis from 24) as Detective Hilton. Most importantly, it looks like there WILL be a Dinah, Ollie’s love interest in the comic books. Katie Cassidy (GOSSIP GIRL, MELROSE PLACE) will play Dinah ‘Laurel’ Lance. I hope she doesn’t stick with “Laurel” for long, but then again, that was her full name in the comic books. All in all, while it’s not GREEN Arrow or Star City, we do get to see a scraggly blond mustache and goatee like I wanted, in the trailer embedded below. Here’s hoping he gets a clean cut one by Season 3.

Depressed that there are no more books or movies left featuring HARRY POTTER and his friends? Get in line. Instead of moping, a few rabid fans have taken matters in their own hands and crafted their own web series, AUROR’S TALE. Chronicling the adventure of a brand new auror Hawthorne and taking place in New York (take that Brits), it certainly looks darker than J.K. Rowling’s classic source material. I don’t think fans will mind, and if it’s dark magic, wand waving and lots of slow motion you crave, this will go down sweeter than  Butterbeer on a cold winter’s night. It’s no Rowling or Warner Brothers, but it is Potter-y.

In case you missed it, CW has found its successor to SMALLVILLE. This fall, it’s turning to Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, once again. Unfortunately, they’ve taken out the “green” and made it Arrow. I’m assuming they wanted to avoid confusion with Green Hornet and Green Lantern, but that doesn’t make it any less lame. Stephen Amell (VAMPIRE DIARIES, 90210, HUNG) is signed on for the tights and some of the first early images of him have been released. These images, one above and one below, are courtesy of EW.com. At least it looks like he’ll be wearing green.

Many die hard fans of SMALLVILLE are sad that Justin Hartley, who played Green Arrow in the show, wasn’t the one tabbed to play the role once again. For me, I welcome the change, because he was never the Oliver Queen that I loved in the comic books and I want this to be a different entity from SMALLVILLE. Amell looks more rugged at the very least, and while I won’t be happy until he gets a sweet blonde mustache and goatee, I’m going to at least watch an episode or two before I judge anything too harshly.

It’s been a good year for sci-fi, horror and fantasy fans this pilot pick up season, with another Abrams show onboard (REVOLUTION) and a few other high concept titles being greenlit by the networks (HANNIBAL, ARROW). One of the bigger projects is FOX’s THE FOLLOWING, created and produced by Kevin Williamson (DAWSON’S CREEK, VAMPIRE DIARIES, SCEAM). The show stars Kevin Bacon as Ryan Hardy, a predictably troubled FBI agent brought back into the fold to go after escaped serial killer Joe Carroll (played by JOHN CARTER’s James Purefoy). Turns out, now that he’s out, he’s turning into a Charles Manson of the digital age, collecting followers like I would on Twitter, except, you know, they brutally kill for him. The trailer, courtesy of Shock Till You Drop, is a smorgasbord of familiar faces on top of the big names, with the woman determined to be on every show, Natalie Zea (JUSTIFIED, CALIFORNICATION) as a woman that the serial killer and FBI agent have both slept with, with Shawn Ashmore, (Iceman from X-MEN), Jeananne Goossen, (dibs; Nikki from ALCATRAZ) and Billy Brown (the new detective on DEXTER) as fellow agents helping the investigation. And, of course, Maggie Grace (Shannon from LOST, TAKEN), plays the one that got away. From the serial killer, that is.

While the show’s hook doesn’t seem like one that could last for more than a couple seasons (and that’s if it’s going with the deliberate THE KILLING-like pace), it has one of the best casts of any new show, and has solid pedigree. The trailer is embedded below for your satisfaction.

ABC announced that while the project will not be ready for this upcoming season, that yes, THE HULK is still in development, and could be coming to TV as soon as next season. The show will be produced by Guillermo Del Toro (PAN’S LABYRINTH) in a dream combination. The Hulk hasn’t exactly thrived in a lead role in two movies, so it’d be interesting to see an entire television show based on the character, but you know with immense popularity and recognition following THE AVENGERS that the show would have enormous rope.

It wasn’t all good news, as FOX’s plans to develop a PUNISHER procedural from CRIMINAL MINDS producer Ed Bernero were squashed, according to Dark Horizons. The pilot was rejected and looks about dead in the water. If Punisher had stolen scenes in THE AVENGERS like the Hulk we might have written a different story today. It’s sad, but  in my opinion, I wouldn’t want a washed down network version of PUNISHER, and would very much prefer seeing the concept developed by HBO, STARZ (imagine a combo of SPARTACUS and PUNISHER?) or SHOWTIME.

For those lucky enough to be attending this year’s Comic Con, you’ll be able to participate in the upcoming apocalypse with “The Walking Dead Escape.” Robert Kirkman, creator and brainchild behind THE WALKING DEAD is teaming with his publisher Skybound to celebrate the 100th issue of his comicbook in a robust way: a zombie themed obstacle course in the San Diego Padres baseball stadium, Petco Park. The event takes place from July 12th through 14th, timing it perfectly with this year’s Comic Con (July 12th to 15th).

You will be allowed to be a Walker, or attempt to be a survivor, or merely watch the blood bath in what sounds like the most fun obstacle course ever conceived. The news comes courtesy of Hollywood Reporter. Kirkman had the following to say about the event: ”Our fans have been reading about it, watching it and now they get to live it with The Walking Dead Escape…We are literally transforming Petco Park into the early days of society’s collapse and San Diego is just the first city to fall.” Can we expect more of these events in other cities across the world? With the popularity of THE WALKING DEAD and the ingenuity behind the idea, I don’t see why not.
