Bloody Disgusting posted a link today to the new McG directed Terminator: Salvation poster from Warner Bros. which you can view at Yahoo! Movies. It’s unlike any poster I’ve ever seen. I don’t want to ruin it so click here for the international “online” one-sheet and teaser trailer for the upcoming release.
In related news, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Equity Games Production, and Halcyon Games announced today that there will be a Terminator: Salvation tie-in video game where you can role play as John Conner and blow up robots.
According to i09, “the video game is a third person shooter game where you are charged with building the resistance and fighting Skynet. Characters from the film will be inside the video game along with all of the new Skynet baddie bots, including the giant Harvesters.”
Terminator: Salvation arrives May 22, 2009.

The Ghostbusters have definitely come alive again. Currently writers Gene Stupnisky and Lee Eisenberg from The Office are working on the screenplay. No pressure, but Seth Rogen who’s been linked to a role in the sequel has already openly announced he will turn down the role if he isn’t impressed with the script reports Wenn. Rogen tells Collider.com, “At first hearing [about a sequel] sounds like the worst idea ever. I mean, that would have to be one motherf**king good script.”
To add to this (though probably not much), Bill Murray, who is able to finally speak about Ghostbusters 3 thanks to the below mentioned Atari Ghostbusters: The Video Game that he provided his voice for, says he will only return for the third film if the script is funny enough. At the very least, he has given his blessing for the third film, tell MTV, “I think a fresh look at it will be fine. I hope they go back to the original version.”
Now for the news you’re all waiting for. Kotaku confirms that Atari has officially picked up Ghostbusters: The Video Game for 2009. Fans in fear the video game would never see the light of day can rest assured. Expect a worldwide release on six game systems!
Originally the video game was to set foot in the market late this month, however the new date (and better than none at all) seems very fitting—2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the original 1984 Ghostbusters movie. Ghostbusters: The Video Game, written and directed by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, will take place two years after Ghostbusters II in Manhattan, the city again overrun by ghosts. Voices have been provided from the original 1984 cast. Read on for the official press release. (more…)

/Gamer announces that Brash Entertainment is still moving forward with their plans to launch a Saw video game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. The video game release will coincide with Saw VI’s theatrical release—roughly next October. The game’s storyline will take place between the original Saw and Saw II and the developers are currently working with the original creators of the movie franchise in order to have the game closely tied to the films. The teaser poster for the game is supplied by Bloody Disgusting.
Bloody Disgusting reports that Saw franchise cinematographer David A. Armstrong will be testing his turn behind the camera as director for a new thriller titled Details. The film chronicles the events of a “troubled, small town police chief [who] hunts for a serial killer with the help of a psychic while trying to avoid coming under suspicion himself.” Filming will commence in the new year in Louisiana.
You can also head over to BDTV to view the entire short film that creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell used to pitch the first Saw film in 2003.

Speaking of the crossovers between videogames and movies, the new hit video game The Force Unleashed may have potential to undergo this treatment. According to The Los Angeles Times who caught up with Haden Blackman, the leader behind The Force Unleashed, “It’s not impossible.” The video game, which hit stands earlier this month sold over 1-million units in its first five days. Already Dark Horse has created and released the graphic novel for The Force Unleashed, of which Blackman penned the script for. If we are still following the trend from graphic novels transformations to movies, the outlook seems likely a motion picture adaptation is in the near future.
“Never say never. George [Lucas] has looked to tell new ‘Star Wars’ stories through the games and with the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe, and then he has also shown a willingness to let the characters come into the films. Look at Aayla Secura, a creation in the [Dark Horse] comic books who became part of the theatrical films.”
The Force Unleashed takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, interjecting scenes we have up until now been unfortunately denied. It tells the backstory of Vader’s secret apprentice, who was guided in the way of the Sith to terminate any remaining Jedis who stand in the way of his ultimate plan against the Emperor.

Director of Famous Monsters, Simone Bartesaghi, tipped us on some exciting news today. If the trend persists, I see a potential rivalry between both arenas that could revolutionize our standards in quality films and video games!
It’s no longer a matter of crossing bridges, video games and movies are becoming one big industry with players shifting from one side to the other. It started with video games being so good in the story telling arena that filmmakers wanted to tell those stories to a broader audience (Silent Hill, Resident Evil) and now visionary directors are crossing the line to tell their stories through the powerful engaging technology of the video games.
This territory will not be unfamiliar to EA, who has already been in collaboration with Steven Spielberg in a development deal that recently launched Boom Blox for the Nintendo Wii, and currently working on various other developments.
Another notable crossover includes director James Wan (Saw) who directed the trailer for the video game Dead Space. Now it’s time for Mr. Zack (300) Snyder to join the video game world. The director of the highly expected and controversy Watchmen has signed a deal to develop three original games for Electronic Arts. EA will own the intellectual properties, with the option for Snyder’s Cruel & Unusual Films banner to produce film adaptations using the properties. In an interview at the Comic Con 2008, Snyder said that he is very excited about this new venture and that “a dialogue needs to be established between filmmakers and game producers.”

ShockTillYouDrop.com recently had a chance to visit the set of director Jon Harris’ The Descent 2. Exclusive from their interview, here are the highlights.
In chatting with writer of The Descent 2, James Watkins who recently directed Eden Lake, we learned that the sequel will introduce new elements from the first film to play on. There will be men this time around, more gore, and really tap into our “deep primal fears.” Gory moments will serve as breathing room in this sequel reveals Watkins as he describes a new sequence he and Harris came up with involving water. They toured the caves in Yorkshire with a cave rescue crew for a first hand experience but didn’t go very deep at all. “It’s pretty dangerous,” expresses Watkins, “The real extreme cavers do the water stuff. Going into the water not knowing where you’re going to come out, I wouldn’t even want to do that on the fantastic set Simon [Bowles] has built.” (more…)

In addition to the Dead Space EA video game and Dead Space: Downfall, both arriving in October, and the ongoing Image Comic series, Dead Space has launched their new website, NoKnownSurvivors.com.
The website will utilize all manners of storytelling and filmmaking from audio effects to the rapidly growing 3D animation techniques to serve fans with more Dead Space content. Over the next nine weeks, fans can immerse themselves into the world and follow every step of the process as the creators tell two tragic stories, Misplaced Affection, followed by 13.
Misplaced Affection follows “an organ replacement technician who falls hard for a capable female security officer. 13 is the “tale of a sleeper agent who makes the wrong decisions for the right reasons.” Each story is four chapters long, with new chapters going live every Monday.

Clive Barker’s adaptation of The Midnight Meat Train was doomed for failure when its release only hit a limited 100 discount theaters. The limited release was allegedly due to Lionsgate’s president, Joe Drake, who gave his film, The Strangers, preferential treatment in the run for the big screen. MTV caught up with Clive Barker to discuss the fact of the matter.
In an interview with MTV, Barker unleashes his distress.
“There’s room for everything,” he says. “You don’t have to shit on somebody else’s work to advance your own material” referring to Lionsgate president Joe Drake. “Though I mourn the fact that Midnight Meat Train was never given its chance in theaters,” continues Barker, “The movie is surviving the nonsense… It’s a beautifully stylish, scary movie, and it isn’t going anywhere… People will find it, and whether they find it in midnight shows or they find it on DVD, they’ll find it, and in the end the Joe Drakes of the world will disappear.”
Stay tuned for details on the DVD release.
