DeCoteau Tries To Break Garbage Streak With “SNOW WHITE, A DEADLY SUMMER”

We can’t promise anything, but the notorious David DeCoteau just might have delivered something slightly better than absolutely horrid with SNOW WHITE, A DEADLY SUMMER, hitting DVD on March 12 from Lionsgate. DeCoteau is perhaps best known to fans as the mind behind minor D-classics like CREEPAZOIDS (’87), SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-A-RAMA (’88), and PUPPET MASTER III (’91), but most recently he has been occupying himself with his “1313″ line, an abysmal series of homoerotic boys-in-underwear pseudo-genre flatliners.

So, the maestro of “eh, I guess it wasn’t as bad as it could have been” returns with SNOW WHITE, A DEADLY SUMMER, for which he has actually assembled a decent roster in star Maureen (RETURN TO HORROR HIGH, BRADY BUNCH) McCormick, lovely Shanley Caswell, and Eric Roberts (who must have been on leave from Syfy Network productions at the time). Most impressive is the feat of landing composer Harry (FRIDAY THE 13TH) Manfredini to score the picture. On that merit alone, SNOW WHITE, A DEADLY SUMMER might be worth the trip. Take a look at the trailer and make the call…

Synopsis (courtesy Hybrid Presents):
“Devastated by her father’s remarriage, Snow (Caswell) begins to act out towards her new stepmother (McCormick).  Given an ultimatum by his new wife, Snow’s father (Roberts) sends his daughter off to a summer camp, unaware of its dark past.  Snow soon learns that the camp was the site of a murder several years ago, and that the suspect fled into the woods, never to be seen again.  Not long into her deadly summer, campers begin dying off and Snow feels as though a killer is watching her.”
