HOUSE OF THE DEVIL director Ti West is eager to get to work on his next project, THE SIDE EFFECTS. The film is a follow-up to his THE INNKEEPERS, which fared alright upon initial VOD release in December, and has a theatrical run kicking off in February. West has been busy, with segments in new anthology films THE ABCs OF HORROR, and V/H/S, and is particularly excited to discuss his upcoming foray into fantasy, which he wrote and is directing.
THE SIDE EFFECTS, which West describes as being about, “pharmaceutical testing and paranoia,” is coming together, with complete funding being the last hurdle. “I’ve cast the lead and I’ve got most of it together,” the director told The Playlist, “but it’s a science fiction movie, so we need to build spaceships. It’s one of those things I can’t really rush into and I can’t do it for less than we need for it, because we have to build things. The smallest amount of money to do what I do is what I want. I don’t want a dime more, but I don’t want a dime less either. Like I don’t want to go, ‘We’ve run out of money to put that extra thing on the spaceship,’ but I don’t want to have money for no reason. It’s a good script, and it’s a great cast.”
