The PSYCHO franchise is a mysterious beast, with two sequels, a prequel and a failed television pilot that aired as a television movie (BATES MOTEL, 1987), and Universal Television has announced a deal with A&E to develop a new series exploring the roots of Robert Bloch’s favorite son.
The Hollywood Reporter shares the following details: “The series would offer an understanding into how Norman Bates’ psyche developed and would tell the back story of the film’s killer, learning of how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged him, transforming him into serial-killing motel owner.“
The initial script is from Anthony Cipriano.

Oh jeez!
