…a “si” holiday!
Today’s Cinco de Mayo and yesterday was “”Star Wars Day.” I’m two days too dazed! (What else is new?)
I had no idea that yesterday was a special date on the calendar, until this lady walked into my place of work:
I asked why she was wearing Jedi clothing, and she told me “Because of the date.”
“What about the date?” I asked.
“May the Fourth be with you!” she punned.
I’ve been told today that every sci-fi and fantasy geek (but me, apparently) knows this gag.
I hadn’t heard it, so I now realize that despite the illusion of having a brick home, I must actually live under a rock.
May the farce be with me!
Here she is showing off her weapon. Seemed outta place in a deli, but it came in handy–the slicers weren’t working! Who knew that giant glow sticks are great for slicing prosciutto?
This gal’s name is Cathsaigh (pronounced “kayth-say”) and besides being an opponent of the dark side of the Force, she is a professional singer. Her website is found here.
Guess who this is?
That’s Rondo Award-winning Donna Lucas, publisher of the highly-praised magazine Video Watchdog, holding up a Day of the Dead mask made by my wife Jane. (We’d brought several to give to friends at the Wonderfest convention last year.) I know today is Cinco de Mayo and not Dia de Los Muertos, but every day is Dia de Los Muertos at our house, even Cinco de Mayo. Just as every day is Halloween for us, including Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, and National Talk Like a Pirate day.
So “buenos deseos” and have a monstruoso Cinco de Mayo! Belated positive vibrations to you all, too, for May the Fourth. Please send me your names and I’ll toast every one of you twice!
