News of the latest entry into the Scream franchise has been arriving regularly over the last several months, and now we can confirm the latest bit of rumor that’s been floating around. As per an article on the Detroit Free Press’s website, Freep, the film has set its sights on Michigan as its principal filming location this summer.
The shoot for Dimension Films is set to begin in mid-June, in and around Ann Arbor, the location of the University of Michigan.
The decision to shoot the film in Michigan isn’t entirely surprising, as more and more productions have been moving there in the past year. In fact, a total of 52 movie and TV productions were filmed in the state last year alone, with a grand total of 87 projects since the state introduced tax breaks for productions in April 2008. The incentive rate can be up to 42%, so naturally its a desirable location for companies who want the biggest bang for their buck.
As always, we’ll be updating you more on this project as more news develops.
