Empire of the Ants Actor John David Carson Dies

Carson, John DavidJohn David Carson was a young supporting actor in films and television in the 1970s.  He co-starred with Joan Collins and Robert Lansing in Bert I. Gordon’s kitschy cult classic Empire of the Ants, loosely base on a story by H.G. Wells.

Carson was born in North Hollywood, California, on March 6, 1952.  He began appearing on stage and in television commercials in the 1960s.  He made his film debut co-starring with Rock Hudson in Roger Vadim’s sex/murder/comedy films Pretty Maids All in a Row.  He was featured in the 1973 sci-fi The Day of the Dolphin with George C. Scott, and starred in the 1976 Bigfoot adventure Creature from Black Lake with Jack Elam and Dub Taylor.  He was also seen in the 1978 psychological thriller The Fifth Floor.  Carson appeared on television in episodes of Fantastic Journey, Bring ‘Em Back Alive, and Blacke’s Magic.

Carson died in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 27, 2009, though his death was not widely reported at the time.  He was 57.
