According to THR, the enthralling actor Anthony Hopkins has come out of the blue to be cast as Odin in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. I’ve got two words to say to that. Awe. Some.
The movie, which has an excellent cast ranging from Chris Hemsworth to Natalie Portman, centers around Thor, the god of thunder, as the arrogant warrior inadvertently re-ignites an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth as a punishment and is forced to live among us mere mortals. When a horrible villain sends hordes of dark soldiers to invade Earth, Thor must rise to the challenge and learn what it takes to be a true hero.
Odin, Hopkins’ character, is Thor’s father and the ruler of Asgard. In the comics, Odin is also the catalyst for Thor’s dramatic changes, and the skilled Hopkins should do an amazing and incredible job of portraying the chief of the Norse gods. Needless to say, this is very exciting news and just adds to the anticipation for this chapter of the Marvel universe to hit the big screen.
