Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of the upcoming Disney Pictures epic adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Cater on Mars reports Dark Horizons.
Dafoe will play the Martian Tars Tarkas, a warrior who is rare among his people in that he has the capacity to love. He joins an allegiance with John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) and battles along side him throughout the series.
Andrew Stanton (Wall-E) is directing from a script he co-wrote with Mark Andrews.
Lynn Collins also stars.
Production begins next year.
