Creepy Casting: Guy Pearce Set To Join "Dark"

Dark Horizons reports that Guy Pearce is in final negotiations to star along side Bailee Madison (Bridge to Terabthia) and Katie Holmes in the upcoming remake of the 1973 telefilm Don’t be Afraid of the Dark.

The premise is simple enough: Young girl moves into a new house with her author father (Pearce) and his girlfriend (Holmes) only to discover they share the house with demons. The father doesn’t believe the daughter despite the fact that his girlfriend does. At first the girl is fascinated by the demons until they prove to be dangerous-I hate it when a house full of demons turns out to be dangerous.

I’m not familiar with the original, but what gives me the slightest hope in this little creeper is the fact that Guillermo Del Toro is set to produce along with Mark Johnson. Troy Nixey, a Del Toro protege, will direct from a script by Del Toro and Mathew Robbins.

Shooting begins next month in Melbourne, Australia.
