Bodybuilder and actor Alexander Nevsky dropped us a note to bring us up to date on his previously announced project, Hercules: The Beginning. “I turned my back muscle in February during preparation for this film so we’ll start it later this year (when I am ready). John Bierly and Kevin Rice wrote the script and I am in talks with possible directors. I also will try to get someone like John Milius to polish the script and make it darker. I will produce Hercules: The Beginning through my production company Hollywood Storm and want to shoot it in Morocco and Russia.”
Prior to the back injury, Nevsky was in Russia working on completing Treasure Raiders. The $10 million action thriller opened in Russia to great commercial success. The film will open domestically on June 2 (it previously screened in 2007 at the Newport Beach film festival) and Nevsky described it as the “Russian answer to Fast & Furious (we crashed about 30 cars during the shoot). I produced it and starred in with David Carradine, Sherilyn Fenn, Andrew Divoff and Steven Brand.” For those interested, the trailer can be seen here.
“I am following his plan!” Nevsky said of the inevitable comparisons to Arnold Schwarzenegger. “Many years ago I was a skinny Moscow kid but thanks to Arnold’s books and films I changed my life completely.”
