J. Michael Straczynski to Pen Forbidden Planet Remake

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Warner Bros. has tapped J. Michael Straczynski, the scribe who wrote Clint Eastwood’s Changeling and is best known for creating Babylon 5, to pen a remake of the sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet.

The original film, directed by Fred Wilcox was released in 1956, tell the “tale of an expedition sent from Earth to check on a colony of scientists on a far-off planet. They find two members, a man who has found alien technology that doubled his intellect, Dr. Morbius, and his daughter, both of whom have managed to survive an unseen monster roaming the planet.”
