RelicQuest Coming to Sci-Fi Channel

Sci-Fi must have thought of a gentleman with a fedora hat and a whip? No, we are not talking about a new Indiana Jones project escaped from the creative hands of the LucasFilm, we are talking about the new investigative series that Sci-Fi channel has just approved, RelicQuest (still a working title). The channel’s commitment is for six episodes, each spanning one hour that will be slated at the beginning of October and premiere in early 2009.

RelicQuest is an action and adventure series that travels the globe in search of historical relics and artifacts. The documentary opts for a “professor-free zone,” speaking with locals, smugglers, traders, tomb raiders, dealers, and the like instead.

Bruce Burgess, the documentary filmmaker that will host the show, is for sure familiar with the matter. With such titles under his belt as: Bloodline (The DaVinci Code for real), The Ark of the Covenant Revealed (told you, a man, a fedora and a whip) and Dreamland: Area 51 (did I mentioned a man, a fedora and… yes you got it), Burgess seems to be the perfect Virgilio, to guide the viewer in the maze of mysteries and legends that surround so many events in our history.

RelicQuest is being produced by Bluebook Films for Sci Fi with Rene Barnett and again Bruce Burgess as executive producers. For a detailed list of Burgess’ traveling itinerary, see the original post at IESB.net here.
