Principle photography began last week for Sci-Fi Channel’s remake of Children of the Corn.  The latest to join leads David Anders and Kandyse McClure is Daniel Newman who is already on set in Iowa now.  The film will premiere on Sci-Fi Channel and then released on DVD by Starz and Anchor Bay Entertainment.

James Lorinz (Frankenhooker, Street Trash) returns to the genre in his first horror film since the early 90s.  He is the first cast member to join lead Adam Wilson in the new indie horror The Eternal, a feature length sequel to the short film Ending The EternalThe Eternal follows the story of Samuel Gradius, a 500-year-old vampire that wants to die, and seeks a warrior’s death.  Director Justin McConnell (Working Class Rock Star) says, “Lorinz was my first choice for the character, it was tailored for him.  His performance in Frankenhooker is so acclaimed for a reason.”

A review from Rue Morgue Magazine for the short prequel, Ending the Eternal, can be viewed here.  It was shown two weeks ago as part of the Rue Morgue Festival of Fear in Toronto and has just been made a part of the official selection several more film festivals, showing at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, Dead Channels (San Francisco) and at the Edmonton International Film Festival.

The Eternal will be the first of three slated upcoming horror films from Canadian producers Unstable Ground.  Deliver Us and New Generation will follow.  Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more on The Eternal.

The more I read about this Eternal flick, the more I want to see it. Dug the short a lot.
