The novel was good and the first film wasn’t bad but are we in need for a third Butterfly Effect film?  After Dark Films thinks so and has announced Seth Grossman (The Elephant King) will be directing Butterfly Revelation from a script by newcomer Holly Brix.  The film will star Chris Carmack (The OC). The film will shoot from August 25 through September 19 in Detroit.

The film has been gestating for a while with Anthony Leonardi (Existence) originally in talks to direct.

The film’s story, according to Bloody-Disgusting: “A young man discovers he has inherited the powers of ‘The Butterfly Effect’ and attempts to solve the mystery of his high school girlfriend’s death using his newfound ability, only to unwittingly unleash a vicious serial killer.

“A fatal fire in his childhood has somehow given SAM REED the capacity to travel back in time — a “psychic” talent that, thus far, he has used to help fight crime. But, in order to save an innocent man from the death chamber, Sam travels back to try and track the real killer of an old love — and winds up ripping a hole in the fabric of the past and unleashing a vicious serial slayer on an unsuspecting world…”
