Spooks 1ADevil’s Due had a good convention, first announcing a talent search in conjunction with actor Kevin Spacey, then following that with news that Spooks, their comic from Ryan Schifrin (Abominable) and Larry Hama (G.I. Joe) has been optioned for film. Larry Josephson (Enchanted) will handle the live-action adaptation. He will begin hunting for a screenwriter shortly then set the film up with a studio. Josephson is no stranger to genre productions, having helped produce Men in Black, The Professional and The Fifth Element.

According to Devil’s Due: “This is the untold story of SPOOKS, the secret branch of the government that protects humanity from things that go bump in the night.  But when the king of all vampires forms an alliance with the deadliest of witches to launch an invasion of classic monsters on Washington, D.C., the Spooks find themselves in an all-out battle for the fate of the planet!”

The comic was conceived with R.A. Salvatore, Geno Salvatore and Schifrin with artwork from Adam Archer and colorist Jonny Rench. The four issue miniseries just published its final issue so expect a trade collection in the not-too-distant future.
