Vin Di BonaProducer Vin Di Bona has formed Invisible Hand Studios to produce graphic novels for Devil’s Due Publishing. The deal, according to Variety, is for Di Bona to generate new titles that could become feature films or television series. The first release will be August’s Serpo, described as “an interplanetary exchange program between 12 Americans and aliens from the planet Serpo.” At the end of the program, only eight humans return which raises questions. The story will be from Jason Burns and Joe Eisma, the team behind A Dummy’s Guide to Danger.

Other titles announced are Burns’ D.O.L. “about two overzealous underdogs, who in the process of collecting overdue library books, inadvertently save the world”; and The Odd Squad, focusing on the federal Office of Dimensional Defense. America Jr.’s Nick Capetanakis and Todd Livingston cowrite the latter title with art by Brendon and Brian Fraim (The Waiting Place).

Devil’s Due logo“I believe the graphic novel presents the most unique and creative entry into the future of both television and film,” Di Bona told the trade. “With the launch of Invisible Hand Studios, we have the opportunity to ride the crest of what will be the new wave of storytelling.”

Devil’s Due is a rising comic publisher noted for its Halloween licensed comic and original properties such as Hack/Slash, which is also being developed as a feature film.  They anticipate other major announcements at San Diego’s Comicon International.
